Hello!

I am getting started and just wanted to say hi. I am currently reading through the main sites tips while I piece meal my rig together and figure out things bit by bit. So far I have a 13.2 gallon keg I bought for $30 on Craigslist. I found out when i brought it home that it is a grundy and not a sanke which is more difficult to remove. It'll give me something to do while I continue to read and educate myself.

While I will start simple my end goal is to make rum and other flavored liquors. I honestly do not drink much due to the costs so this will be an eye opening experience for me. I am in the hobby more as a means to invest my nerdy resources somewhere.

Oh and I had to register with my work email - now that the system knows I am not a bot can I change it to my gmail account? It wouldn't be wise for me to get forum updates on my work email.

Good to meet everyone.

Ox

Welcome aboard,

I had to register the same way because they had gmail turned off, then read a notice that they turned it back on, so I changed it to my gmail addy - won't hurt to try. Sounds like they turned it back off because of the influx of trolls that have been coming around lately.

Thanks. I tend to be uber safe especially since I have no desire to burn my house down or die. I was searching for copper pipe on Craigslist and found someone else looking for it. I contacted him and made a deal to purchase a 10' 2" copper pipe and split the cost. I was able to get a good deal and meet someone else who is starting out.

I was able to also obtain two kegs off CL. One is a 13.2 gallon and the other is a 15.5 gallon. I also found a Turkey Fryer with a propane burner for only $40 on sale. I still have a lot to buy before I get going. I'm planning on making a pot still at first and then later building a column. I cut the 2" to 1' for the pot still and will keep the 4' for the column.

I started Wineos Plain Ol Sugar Wash last night and am hoping to have completed the pot still by the time it is done.

I've printed off the entire main site material and have been reading on here like crazy.
