Ground Rules:

*Posters welcome to offer a commentary if they feel a sufficient amount of information is not included on the diagram/plan.
*Unproven plans subject to review by management.
*Posting/commentary by original posters only.
*To further discuss or ask questions, pm The OP or discuss questions regarding a specific diagram on the most (other) appropriate forum.

We get lots of requests for plans by new members. The goal here is to allow plans and diagrams to remain readily accessable and not get burried by pages and pages of chatter.

Hopefully Samohon will load this thing with some really nice information

OK lets get it going then, I'll try and add to this thread a as much as possible, but it does take time to do some of these anims...
But anyways, lets get the thread movin...

Edit: These are Flash animations, adobe flash will have to be enabled on your browser....
If any problems occur I'll upload them to youTube... :D

Currently working on a Pot Still, OD's Flute, LC's Humper and others...
As the thread grows to maturity I feel sure it will give the new member here on HD a better understanding of whats going on inside the stills...

LM's / VM's / Ponu's / Even Rads Small Scale Apartment Still, Safety aspects, fermentation, mashing,etc;
They can all be illustrated so come on you budding artists, get busy with the tools you have...

Please note: Although this will give the novice a graphical representation of the workings it is still no substitute for reading both the parent site and the main boards pertaining to their given design. These drawings and animations will help to get over the barrier a little sooner...
Even the long time guru's of HD are still learning....

Thanks guy's... :D

These are some still drawings I have done over the years from ideas and designs around the forums and elsewhere. I thought I would throw them all together in one document for others to gawk at. More details in the document.

Sorry about the file size (1.8 MB). But it does contain over 70 images, and you can only compress an image so far before it becomes a fuzzy mess. You only gotta download it once. :P

I guess I'll get in here too. My still is modeled after a Coffey still replication that Old Dog made. the only significant design deviation I've made is the addition of a dephlegmator and a tri-clamp sealed cap to sneak a gin bucket into the vapor path.

Some of these files are massive, I had to reduce them way down...
So if I get a minute I'll put the Hi-Res files inside a pdf and drop a mediafire link on this thread...

Enjoy... :D :D :D

OK, had an hour or so today after work so got the plate tree done for OD's 3D Magic Flute... Heres a little graphic to be goin on with...
Once I've got all the parts assembled, its over to Vray for a decent photo-render... May even try to animate the plates bubbling...
Dont worry LC, I'll get round to the Humper... :D

Doesn't take long in Inventor to make the parts, Once completed I'll upload a full parts list for the Flute, Dephlag + Shotguns routes...
Hope the bottom tray's downcomer is is OK, think I saw it on a Flute build thread... :D

Edit: Thanks OD, seems like these diagrams serve to Iron out those little things... Model and Graphic Updated... :D

OK, after giving it to Olddog (thanks man), to seal it with approval here is a complete schematic The Magic Flute (1 meter 4 plate), at scale (A0). I'll add a complete cutting list with a method of building later... Plumbing of the cooling system has not been done in this schematic to keep the schematic understandable to everyone... A separate plumbing drawing is under-way and will be implemented as a layover to this drawing..
A plate and tree diagram will be included... Great design OD, we don't get something like this everyday...

Acknowledgement:
This design is attributed to Olddog here on HD. The design was taken from a commercial still design and scaled down for the home distiller...
A representation on paper is all that has been done here in a hope that it leads to an aid in building the still...
Full credit must go to the designs author and other builders on HD who keep tweaking this design to its boundary's...
Thanks guy's..

This will print out fine on smaller printers also... But for best results, put it out to a large format printer. Scale (1:1)...
EDIT: The dimensions are in metric only... Decided this after I realised that there were to many variations in the fittings globally...

These are templates that can be printed on label paper and applied to your plate for a drill pattern. There are different styles for the plate of your choice.

Heres my easy to make Pot Still Plan... I made the drawing before I built it, I've just annotated the plan for the beginners out there...

This works like a charm and could be modified quite easily to add a thumper, ect;

Think I built it for about $60... Not bad considering the whiskey I've taken from it...

The plan is in full A1 format ready to be printed.... Drawing last updated for text/dimensions correction on Jan - 22 - 2012

Heres my current VM/Bok combo setup from another thread centering rings inside the column..

I take 1.8L per hour @ +96% abv @ 20°C from my parrot...
If I take +2L per hour, the abv is still +90% and the neutral/vodka is very very clean...
