A BIG thank you to HUSKER. Does anyone know how much he works for us?? We login and enjoy the site, but behind the scenes husker is working many hours a day to keep things running smoothly. Let’s not forget the great job he does holding the ends together, and hope he never tires of doing it. I have the previlige to share a drink with him once in a while, but the rest should thank him here. GREAT JOB DUDE.

Careful, bohunk, or Husker is gonna be hinting for a raise... :esurprised: Oh boy...!!!

Yes, folks would be very surprised to learn everything that happens behind the scenes here, and not just in the forums... The entire site requires a substantial amount of work to keep the server running happily, the forums, parent site, and Wiki up and running, tending the sheep, laundry, stop and get milk, buy stamps . . . . Ooppss...!!! :eh: Kinda got the honey do list mixed in there... :lolno: Sorry... :shifty:

Thanks all, for the acknowledgement. It is appreciated. As Rad has mentioned, there is a HUGE amount of work that goes on behind the scene. One of the soon to be released upcoming changes is the parent site is being 'properly' tied into the new facelift it received a couple years back. The facelift looked nice, mostly, but had many problems. Some of these were issues on being able to link directly to a page, and the site is NOT being google spidered properly due to this. This is a huge problem, and all web searches now do not index the parent site properly. Also, many page links were very hard to make work, many of them taking several clicks to get there. Also, many of the links would pull up 'garbage' on the page, such as shoving the raw bytes of images, or pdf files, into that text window on the bottom of the page. Overall, the site's facelift looked good, but the implementation was far from right.

What I have done, is to totally re-write the parent site, in a set of PHP scripts. The original very large htm files have been cut up properly. Now, they are independent pages, that have proper linkage throughout. There are many, many other updates and enhancements.

I will try to get this released before this weekend. I still have a few 'todo' items to get done, mostly dealing with web spiders. I would like to get that code in, so that the URL's do not have to change. It would be good to have the spiders walk the parent site once, and have it fully properly indexed.

Now, once that is done, then we can start doing the 'real' update. That being updating the content. It is 10yrs old, and many parts need to be fully re-done, some parts need dropped, and some new parts need added. That will happen, in due time.

H.

Thanks for all the effort, Husker!

I keep telling my woman that one of these days we have to take a driving tour of the southeastern U.S. and I assured her we'd have plenty of stops to make and sample some of the finest moonshines the world has ever known thanks to our users.
