If you were attempting to sell someone your 75 buck filter to remove chlorine and/or chloramines from water you wouldn’t want to let them know you could remove the chlorine by just letting the water set one day with the lid off and an aquarium bubble stone. Or let them know that dissolving a vitamin C vitamin tablet in the water will remove both chlorine and/or chloramines from the water.
Many Water treatment plants are switching to chloramines for water disinfection. Many people choose to filter water that has been disinfected with chlorine, nothing more.....
When I used distilled water to make some all-bran and another sugar wash, both failed. It wasn't because I tried to rehydrate the dried yeast with it, as I dry pitch. It was lack of nutrients or ph buffering. I dunno.. I had no ph strips.
Some recipe's are tuned to expect food from the tap water.
The thing is...a lot of folks just simply think you can go to the hardware store and slap some parts together and you will have a quality, long lasting water filter. NOT.
doesn't the carbon in a filter wear out after so many gallons?
does China really make carbon from crap? I wouldn't filter through that either...

I think my filter cost less than 1 dollar. I took an old coffee can, some left over tube(it was actually a gift, a way for my brother to tell my kids he was taking them snow tubing), and lots of limestone I found in my yard. The only cost was for caulk to seal where the tube went in to the can. When I feel I need to change the limestone, well, I go bust up another rock.

My cold water test exposed the shower filters to more stable chlorine or chloramine concentrations. The results were astonishing, to say the least. Actually want to buy the best water filter that's why i am collecting the few information about the water filter....thanks a lot...
I wouldn't filter through that either...
