Still Idea
Ok so i am planning on making a still out of a pressure cooker. I got a pressure cooker and a 20 ft 1/4" copper pipe. I have a 1" cork that i am going to drill a hole in and stuff the copper pipe in. I am going to drill a hole for the cork to fit in in the pressure cooker. I am going to run the pipe up and then over into coils into a bucket where i will cool the pipes with ice. Then run it out the bottom into a mason jar. Is this a good idea, and any advice would be very much appriciated.
Re: Still Idea
pressur cookers are not ideal have rubber gaskets that need replacing, and the 1/4" tubing is not either
its just to small .3/8 is the smallest that shuld be considered.

@ shiner153,
Pressure cookers have plastic/synthetic lid seals. Suggest reviewing the ‘The Rules by Which We Live’ and note item #8 - usage of plastics/ synthetics in distilling ->

A Still smaller than 3 gallons is difficult to operate and makes it difficult to make accurate foreshor/head/heart/tail cuts. Suggest reviewing the ‘Novice Guide for Cuts (Pot Still)’ thread located in the “Must Read” New Distiller Reading Lounge.
Attempting to use Ice to cool the condenser causes Cooling Shock which is not desirable when distilling alcohol sprits. Using a gradual temperature gradient for knocking down distillate vapor is the correct manner to distil alcohol.
