2 Lb bag of Red Star at Cash & Carry $6.78 best price I've found anywhere, hell it's about that for a 4 oz jar at Safeway.

I have never looked at Costco, $3.99 now that's cheap, don't get in there much anymore but I'll make a special trip for that.

The cosco here sells it for $4.99. Wal-Mart sells the 4oz jars for $3.97. All the other grocery stores want $8ish for a 4oz jar.

Those are great deals, and I will need to check Sam's Club around here for that same thing. We also have Costco. Question though, how long will 2lbs of yeast last in the fridge? That is a whole bunch of batches for sure! Also, is it just the Red Star bread yeast?

Cash and Carry is where I buy my sugar. 50 lb bags. $28 Everything is in large volume sizes there. You could buy 500 lbs and no one would look at you.

Ya I looked at the sugar when I was there to MR, just didn't need any at the time, but it does make sense that no one would pay any atention to it there.

What is considered cheap for sugar? I can get 25lbs at Sam's for 13 and change. Is that good?

Yes just red star bread yeast. And it will keep a good long while in the fridge.
I can get sugar at the grocery store down the street for $1.79 for a 4 lb bag. Last I checked sams here it was closer to $15 for a 25lb bag.

Thanks for the reply Mr. P! 24lbs of sugar would be less than 12 bucks. Better deal for sure!

That is a very good price. Cash and carry is now $30 per 50lb or 60 cents a pound. About as good as can be found. Always do a quick calc to pound price. I have noticed some retail packaging is now 4 and 9 lb bags. A little deceptive.

All the stores here the larger quantity bags are not expensive per pound. I don't really understand it. A 4lb bag is cheaper per pound then a 5lb bag same goes for a 5lb bag to a 10lb bag. And so on all the way up. It's some kind of marketing ploy many think the bigger bags are cheaper. I know I use to. So they just grab the bigger bag thinking its cheaper to buy in bulk. But really they are paying more. Or the stores sell more of the smaller bags so they get a better discount on them and pass the savings off to us.
All I know is it pisses me off that the larger bags are more expensive.
