Im a Ford guy myself. I take a lot of sh it and abuse for it from some of my friends, nice to see a Ford win something. Im gonna send that to a few Chev pals of mine.

Maybe they did so well cause Ford didn't take the bailout....Good ol American ingenuity!!! Not some...well I better stop there...

Mulekicker, you get bad milage??? My 93 f-350 4door with 8ft box gets 25mpg ALWAYS.(yes that's Canadian) It's 2wd but still, I've had 6.9's as well and got 19-21 with it and it didn't have od just the t-18 4spd/3.55 gear.
The only thing I've ever found to change the mpg is rpm. Loaded or unloaded milage doesn't really change but once over 110km's it drops to around 21 and by 140 it's getting about 18-19.
One time I farted along at 80km's on back roads and from full when I left to full at the pumps when I got to the cottage it figured to be 29.8mpg. I haven't repeated to verify but I've spent many days hauling brush etc where it started in the morning and shut off at dinnertime then run again until dark...on 1/2 tank of fuel. (well...I say fuel but I don't remember the last time I ran diesel hehe, furnace oil and veggy oil is about all that runs in it....and filtered tranny fluid...and..)

Mines got 780,000km's on it, just rebuilt the inj pump a month ago and seen a tag saying it was a rebuilt pump. Ran much better but changed the inj too for good measure, runs like a top! I bought it for $1200 at an auction 7 years and 450,000km's ago. It was an old city truck used for hauling a huge chipper for the side of the road.

I love my truck and yes I'm a die hard Ford guy as well as a heavy diesel mech.

My 2004 sixoh has,,,,,,was a problem child since day1.
Cant even say how much income it cost me as that rig was on the rack alot. And the dealer did not have the skilled labor to cope with the volume of lemmons.

I feel betrayed as a life long ford owner........no more.

Im drivin a chevy now. Nice truck but dont have half the balls im used to.

I need bullit proof......fukk tbose days are gone imo.

I grew up a Chevy man and I am sure I will take some heat for this but I currently own a Toyota Tundra. It is the most powerful truck I have owned. I have a very heavy 24' boat that has been in some heavy sea's and I tow it up to Port Hardy Canada every year to go fishing at Rivers Inlet. Never had a vehicle pull over the mountain without loosing power till I bought this rig!

I drove an 84 F-350 4x4 with a 460 V8 and manual 5 speed overdrive back in the late 90's... It would pass anything on the road except a gas station... It only got 8 - 12 MPG, with 12 being downhill with the clutch in... Used to like Chevy 1/2 tons (loaded, more like a car) and Ford 3/4 tons and up...

Sorry guys it's Funniest On Race Day is how I've always seen Ford. I wouldn't trade my '70 Malibu for any Ford. Though the Ford distributor on my CJ7 is pretty nicely engineered. Runs well with the GM alternator... Ah, AMC...

That Chevy truck looks stupid from the get go. Get some bigger tires on there man.. *cough*. But as soon as they start pulling you can see the rear axle move forward. Looks like someone did some "mods" without thinking things through first... and then decided it was strong enough to pull against a properly built truck. Bad move! Looks like the frame actually buckled there! Pretty funny.

Here's a good site for ridiculous suspension mods. Keeps me laughing!

I get a pretty steady 17mpg, it ain't stock though.....I have 2 of them, one has all of the bullet proof mods for daily driving and working around the farm and the other one has all those mods plus big oil pump and huge injectors and DPI injection for playing with those rice rockets with the coffee can mufflers, I have been outrun in it...but it ain't been many times.

I test drove one of them dodges/cummins. Cute lil turbo is bout the size of a baegle. And had just a teeny tiny bit of giddyap........but at this point in my life I just need a pig to run,,,every time,,,everyday......
To bad them cummins is connected to them rattle traps.

Ahh. Been thinking bout doin some of them upgrades. At least a mild programmer. But once ya go that far... Bigger injectors, hp pump, exhaust, turbo... where does it end. Like I dont have enough shit to spend money on.

Couldnt have said it better LW. Cummins aint a bad engine.... Its the rest of the truck. It aint no coincidence that they make a retrofit kit to put a cummins in a Ford with a torqueshift trans.

They are very bullet proof and easy to work on, but like mentioned before...the rest of the truck has a lot to be desired. I don't get many cummins diesels in my shop to work on, it is mainly the 6.0 liter fords and lots of Duramax diesels, that alone tells me that the cummins is a winner.

I have a '93 twelve valve cummins in another dodge.

Its my good truck. Almost 400k miles. Still pulling strong. It has always, everyday, started with just the tiniest touch of the key. Never been in the motor yet...

everything else thats not the motor on that truck is new tho...

My newer one... an 03 with 6 speed... Lots of problems, but It really doesn't do its thing till you put a lot of weight behind it. It is a blast to drive...

I'd love to have a Cumming 4BT in my CJ7. Of course, smog laws say no... but it's a nice dream.

Prolly fit real good under that hood too UJ. I was kinda shocked how much room was under the hood of the older power plants..
