OK. I have seen this a few times now. I don't know what it is.
I cut my 95% ethanol with water (clean purified store bought water)
and ran it through my Z-filter, and the frst bottle that came out had what looked like ALchohal and water seperation (looked like Clear oil) when i shook it up, it went away and i haven't seen it since.
NOw i did a strippin run today, and i notcied that same thing again when i was pouring it into a carboy...
I have all copper no foriegn materials, straight sugar/turbo wash. and a spotless still.
My question is, When alchohal and water first get tossed together do they appear to not mix up at first?
I can't make the 1st bottle that i had it in show it.. and i have tried over and over.
What do you guys/gals think?
What is this Clear Oil?

Haven't noticed that kind of effect.....although when mixing high proof alcohol with water it seems to react and gives off a cloud of very fine bubbles. Though it might be outgassing of the solution due to the dissipated heat from bonds that are being formed between alcohol and water molecules.
