Large bubble plate,small bubble plate, 36" packed section, twin baby dephlegs.

still need to add the external drain to the 2nd plate and the bubbler section with which to draw reflux to enrich the second plate.

Nice! Have you or anyone made product with one yet? Interested in how it runs and how clean it is.

Great craftsmanship, well done, will you need to add a brace or is the material strong enough ? I had to add a brace to give my liebig better support, but mines copper.

Little bit off thread but I am in the processes of designing my parrot for my new build and wonder why the offset drain and not directly below the parrot? Seems like you might end up with extra trapped in the parrot. I see the tri-clamp connection but I am trying to avoid extra assembly and tear down for clean-up.

It is plenty strong. It is more stable than my original rig by a long shot.

Agreed Bushie, I do feel like I collect far enough in before I enable the parrot however.

Had to revise the head a bit. The twin baby deflegs puts me into skylight territory.....Hopefully one will be enough?

So you don't have a valve on the return drain? Or am I missing it?

I added the additional 4"segment to the bubble tee in order to insure a deep liquid bath...I will extend the stand pipe to the liquid line/ drain level to insure the thing holds a lot of fluid.

This change in plans is what 86'ed the twin dephlegs as it made the thing grow by 4"

After some prodding from Myles, I added a heads trap assembly that ties inline with the exterior reflux return line..
So in the pic, my princess is showing where the dump for heads is,,,,, as well as where I need to install a shut down valve to prevent vapor within the column side from escaping when I am dumping heads....Did I say that clearly?

During heads collection (second pic), the baby dephleg insures that the LBP vapor moves over to the trap side of the assembly. and the condenser on the trap side insures that all has been condensed for take off....

Just need to get a couple of valves sourced.

I'm liking it. Using the drain ad part of the heads trap.

Custom measurements may very well offer a more precise outcome...Should be ready to run soon..
Shooting for 4Liters an hour @95% ........Maybe a pipe dream?

It looks good Larry, I am a fan of the offset condenser anyway but using an inline condenser in the vapour path as a valve is a nice touch.

Only 1 minor issue (that you may have already sorted), some of the condensed vapour (from the inline condenser) could evade the heads trap. Its probably trivial but have you thought of diverting it? It is only going to be of concern under full reflux, and will be influenced by the vapour split.

Recon its not really a trap as such Rock......Just a detour for heads so they stay away from the product condenser...Still gonna need to evaluate with a config like this.

Vapour path shoots down the offset branch to the condenser and then the condensate goes down the return drain to the lower part of the column. Fine no problem with that. You can bleed off the heads from the line too - all fine and dandy.

Some vapour though meets that nice dephlegmator - and drops straight back down the column. Is that an issue? It never gets into your return drain line. It might be trivial.

Ah yes I see what you mean.....For a neutral purist perhaps so?
But my feeling is that the LBP constituents will find their way over to the trap side if they truly do prefer the path of least resistance......Prolly wrong though?

Larry, I gotta admit, I'm having trouble piecing the bits together here. Do you have some links to any other threads about this build? I'm sure I've seen bits of it elsewhere.

This is about my intended design.. The addition of the heads trap has nothing to do with the actual collection speed.

Did you sell the wife’s car to buy all that fancy stainless?

Is the packed column section two inch? I am curious to see if that will restrict the speed you are trying to achieve.

I think it may be better to equalize first and take off your heads at the product condenser before opening your recycle drain to start raising ABV. When I open my drain before taking heads they tend to smear and are more difficult to deal with on cuts.

I like the concept. Good luck! If you remove the skylight and build a copula you could build it 12’ tall.
