Will this work?

I’m building a 2”boka with a 4” shotgun condenser out of stainless Steel.
I want the complete collumn demountable, but what I don’t know is of the distance from the fist plate of the shotgun condener, to the first slanted plate is oke.
In other designs I see them like 25 or 30 mm from the condenser.

The sizes in the drawing are outside, the collums has a wallsize of 3mm so inside it’s 2”and 4”.
The 10 mm outlet has a wallsize of 2 mm, so that will be 6 mm inside.

I hope anyone can help me on this.

Your design looks ok to me, but it seems like a bit of overkill. Unless you have plans for the shotgun later. You might benefit from making the transition from 2 to 4" taperaed.

It is easier to wind a coil than make a shotgun.

+1 on the coil. In your original post I thought you were talking about your product condenser instead of a liebig, your design would also give more flexibility if you used it in line as a dephlagmater then built a product condenser.

Want to use the shotgun also voor other projects, my main question is that I'm not sure of the position of the slanted plates, it's starting 150 mm under the schotgun.
I just had a piece of stainless, about 300 mm of 4", indead a bit overkill, but it's there, so why not use it.

Sorry, I didn't notice the length of the shot gun. Why not use it? It's just not necassary. You could make 2 condensors with your 4" tube that length. If you are confidant to make a shotgun, you might want to look at adding a little more to the design and make it into a plated column. I'm not convinced a shotgun is the best thing for a boka.

Knock up a quick pot still if you want some hooch, but for a little more effort than what you propose, you could have a much more capable unit. You would only need a 180 degree bend over the top, and a few other details, but your not far from it. A few guys here have played with 2" plated columns (flute)

i dont think the shotgun will work worth a shit, the vapor will have a hard time rising into a small tube capped at the top, with a coil it can easily go around the coil, a shotgun needs to have a flow through it i would think

Buy the way, you will need a vent in the cap. Jimmys comment made me look at your drawing again.

You run the risk of pressurising the column to danger levels without one. This will also give you some flow past the shotgun. But again, a coil is not hard to make. If you want to use a shotgun, it may work, but your cutting new ground, as far as I know.

Gentlemen,

The shotgun has 12 pipes 1/2 ", all open at the top, so no problem at all with vapour or building pressure.
I want to make a shotgun, because it's a learning proces for my son, who want to be a welder.
