Im from fl met a guy from kentucky had a good convo about stillin an got to try some of his product... After talkin for awhile i was very interested in gettin my foot in the door... So i decided to give it a go im starting off with a pot still runnin on propane wanted to try fruit mash but decided cornmeal would prob be better to start out with....only prob i didnt go corn meal ended up trying sweet feed...that didnt go as planned so cornmeal will definitely be my choice to start with to get familiar with everything...my main worry wasnt blowin myself up ( been in the industrial construction field for 8 yrs so i have good knowledge of osha an safety an how not to blow myself up ) but was the methanol part, i know about metals an poisons for the most part so that wasnt a big worry even though it will be on my mind just as much as blowin myself up but so far from what i gathered for every 5 gallons cooked throw 50 ml atleast from the first part of what comes out.....im going to spend alot of time going through the forum and topics to get even more aquainted with everything so i can hopefully have a good first batch so far im greatly appreciated for finding this and cant wait to read into the knowledge this site has provided...... Thank you fellow brewers

Welcome to the forum Jar, I'd prolly be looking at tossing more like 150cc for starters, and definitely stop by the new distillers readin lounge and have a good look at the guide for cuts.
Have fun & stay safe

Welcome aboard.
+1 on the more like 150ml. You wouldn't want to drink that extra 100ml anyway. Heads aren't all that great for drinking. Not good on your head either. Cuts heads hearts and tails are important in making a good drink. Anyone can make a bad one. Here's the thread NC talked about. But tete are many more good threads in the must read new distiller reading lounge.

I usually make some pretty generous foreshot cuts and then collect in 6 ounce increments and air out for a couple days. Just do some reading and never stop learning. That first run taught me more than I thought I already knew about this art, and I learn from every single run since then. Never stop learning.
