So I did my normal thing mashing and sparging and when I went to empty my tun the next day some of the grain was sprouting. I don;t remember seeing this before.......is it even possible once grains have been malted and kilned ? :?

... i'd find it even harder to believe after the malt had been crushed.

I've gotten malt from my local brewshop that 25% of it wasn't crushed. They obviously don't pay much attention to it.

But its still vary odd. :wtf:

Okay. Thanks. So am I right in thinking that malted barley can sprout, but not when it's been crushed properly.

Jesus, dude. I'm sorry, but you really need to put maybe 3 seconds extra in and write something actually readable. Or are you presently blending!

That is readable. And I would read Dnderhead's post till you understand what he says. And he says what you need to know.

+1. Dunder is a HIGHLY respected "elder" on this site. His knowledge and wisdom that he shares here by far supersedes any spelling or grammatical errors that come across. Deal with it.

I don't know if he is caricaturing me or is he expressing his own disbelief? I have only just worked out that he used the word 'it' instead of 'is' because after all, my malt: "It sprouted".

Dnderhead may be a well respected 'elder' here but this post certainly does not deserve respect.

Really dude, YOU made me come out of hiding for this? I haven't logged in for year(s) but I've been learning for year(s). I notice the people who know poop from poopola. You're barkin up the wrong tree if you have a problem with Mister D. (slinking away, back to hiding)

I don't have a problem with dnderhead any further than a very confusing post. (Sorry dnderhead if it sounded like more.) I called it that, and that it what it was. But everyone here seems intent on making it personal!

It's etiquette to post something understandable, and it's not hard. Reading what you're writing helps.

There is also the consideration of what a legislator or law enforcement person would think. "Not sober" would be on the cards. That's even in the rules somewhere.

But this is now way out of proportion, and not from my part. I merely called something what it was.

You need to realize that not everyone on here talks, speaks, types the same. We all aren't professional etiquette speaking types. And its not our job to change the way we are to suit your needs. Nor would we know what others want to read. A post I type up will more then likely make perfect since to me. So to me I wouldnt know why it wouldn't make since to you.

All I'm trying to say is respect the way others talk, speak, type. This forum is made up of many members from all walks of land. Covering most of the earth. That's one of the great parts about it. Language and grammar differences are going to happen. It's how you deal with them that makes the difference.

I for one can't spell worth a lick. So spell check and autocorrect sometimes don't catch what I need it to. And my posts are a little whacky. Sory that's who I am. That's how I am. Deal with it. You wouldn't want to read what I would type without spellcheck or autocorrect.

See now I'm rambling. That's another thing I do. And probably why NC can't understand my posts.

There is very little chance of your mashtun sprouting after you did a proper mash, if you used ground malt.
I believe that Dunder stated that already.
A grain only has one opportunity to sprout and when the time is right it does. If it is sprouting in your mashtun it wasn't malted nor was it ground. I has to be in 1 piece.
I may not have millions of posts on this site, but you don't malt grain 2 times. I have raised enough grain to know when the weather is right, its time, if we get the wrong weather soon after, the crop is dead.

You must have gotten a bad batch of malt is all I can say. There are no grammer police here, just deal with it.

Dont act like you couldn't figure it out.... perhaps you're the dumbest one here

that only applies when sending textx drunk and not wanting to endure the repercussions of putting stupid shit into text that is forever

Just a bunch of sober scientists here... lmfao... "we cant legalize distillation, they drink it"... I love your logic...

you're assinine statements seem to be what have blown this way out of proportion.... maybe next time you can just nicely ask a person to rephrase something if you're so fucking stupid that you, and only you, can't decipher a few haphazard keystrokes..

ummmmmmm... cheesecake

Yall need to bust this up and get back to your business, I don't think anything more needs to be said here unless you're gonna talk about grain.
