I never looked into the stuff as being safe. As far as i always knew, copper, stainless, (and ptfe and certain corks for gaskets) and the use of lead free silver solder, were the ONLY things known, proven, and considered safe. Those were the only things I would ever use on a still.
Of course I get lookin at youtube vids etc. i came across one using plastic tubing for a take off. Explained it wasnt safe to use etc etc.
That lead to an argument with one fellow that argued that it WAS safe. I basicaly said prove it. he sent me the following link to a study.
I took a quick look at it, and it would seem to me that hes right, but im no expert. or chemist, n only have a basic idea n understanding of what this is saying. So, I thought I would bring this up here, as Im sure theres some people with competent knowledge of this.
Im not trying to argue it, only confirm or deny. It would be great if we could add another material to the safe to use list! I dont wana get mine or anyones hopes up, but there is a potential.
as it is, i would sugest the content itself, as well as the source of the content be taken under scruitiney and considered, that is all I want, with fingers crossed.
so, without further ado, the link:
