Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.

Easy Corn grinding tip!

Post by cooperville »

Hey so I am onto my third gen of UJJSM the first wash i ground my corn with my new crankenstein malt mill I had to adjust the rollers with a pretty exact gap and boy did it make my new mill work and it was really noisy about the neighborhood.
So when I got to starting another wash of ujjsm I decided to give my wifes blender a try with a small amount of corn and to my suprise on high speed it made short work of the small amount of grain that i had tried.

As I got more used to the way it ran with corn in it i would add a bit more, I did have to hold the blender in position( due to vibration) but in all it worked so well and wasnt that noisy either.
i ground 5 kilos in a little under 5 mins. Im not to sure whether it is that good for the blender but its a lot cheaper than my new malt mill. You just run the blender until you are happy with the crack ratio and away you go!

A good day is any day you finish with the same number of bones you started with, and all the ligaments attached.
