I have an opportunity to build a bar in my shed, just wondering g what everyone else's private dri king establishment is like.

I have a few ideas but nothing certain yet.

Any ideas?

I am in the process of building one right now in my game room...I will be making the top out of brazillion cherry hard wood flooring. I have a whole box of it left over from when I did my floors a while back.

I turned a big amore(?) that was for an old TV. Added a few shelves and wine cooler. Great way to convert that type of furniture when you switch to a flat screen

Thats a good idea, have u got any pics? I guess u could also Add mirror plate to the backing of it aswell

And lighting! The mirror helped to hide the hole in the back for the TV tube.
The bottom shelves came out and held DVD's. We converted that to a wine rack.
Also added shelves on the side and a divider in the middle along with glass racks on top(there are more now). The 'drawer' isn't complete in the pic, but holds mixing/bartending 'tools' and misc (salt, spritzer etc). Great cheap way to utlize an old piece of furniture that is lacking in function these days.

You could add the final touch to make it feel more like a bar.. put a small TV on top of it.

Haha I could, but it's cluttered with other things now. Besides, there's a 40 or 50-something inch TV next to it.

That's a great idea, good use of a peice of furniture that is becoming useless nowadays.

A fourm full of drinkers and only one bar?!

Even just any ideas are appreciated.

Was gonna have the classic outback Aussie pub style with signs and mining crap everywhere but it'll remind me too much of work!

If I want to sit or stand at a bar I'll go out to one... When I'm home I prefer to drink in a more homey setting, like on the couch...

That's great, I like going out too, but unfortunately I can't take any bottles to the bar, also I'll fall asleep on the couch...

Go With a kegerator.
The wife thought I was crazy when I bought a 440litre single door fridge,
Then cut holes in it with a 22mm hole saw.
Kind of turned out OK though don't you think?

Mate that's a sweet setup, do you brew your own or buy it?

What do u think one of those would cost to make up?

I wouldn't mind a chest fridge so i could have a drip tray etc under the taps, but i think that would be limited to only one keg and the gas...

Yeah I brew various beers. Each keg holds 18liters and it only needs one gas bottle to gas both taps.
A wort costs $19, each and is 23liters. I make 3 at once and that gives me 3 straight kegs and a bitsa- 4 all up.

Would have really liked a freezer with a collar and controller.
Gas bottle is $160, kegs $50ea taps about $50 ea. Bugger all really.

Buy ball lock kegs.
They are ex Pepsi kegs, best get them whilst they last, the lolly water companies have gone to bags and cardboard boxes.
They are selling out.

BTW I have a European Larger and a Pale Ale on tap ATM.
As well as my spirits of course.

Can also convert a mini fridge

I converted one a few years back. Don't remember the following half year. Whew! You really have to learn self control when you have 2 or 3 kegs of homebrew on tap.

Either that or you mrs teaches you.

I reckon the kegerator is an idea I might look into more. That was a great link, very inspiring...

I am about to build my second home bar (my first one in NYC is no longer my home...)
Been desiging it on an awesome tool called Google Sketchup. It's essentially a credenza
with two stainless steel shelves above it to hold the spoils of my mixology

Am looking for wrapped floating stainless steel shelves at the moment.

The woods I'm going to use for it are a mixture of reclaimed planks, iroko, pine, oak, maybe some bubinga if I can find it.

Nice. Well thought out.
Guessn you don't have a huge amount of space or you get away with having some spirits in the house.
I get relegated to the workshop because if you make them too comfortable, my mates settle in.
