Hello from the Appalachian mountains

Post by Fetsmith »

Hi I'm new to the magnificent world of home distillation. I have a handmade 1 gallon copper pot still and my first run in it was a rum wash. I had what I think is a very successful run at 160 proof before cutting it down to 80. So after charring, filtering and adding fresh vanilla bean a cinnamon stick and some spices I have a very tasty final product. I can see how this can be addicting

Well hello and good luck here at hd !! And I must say a 1 gallon pot still is very small after good cuts you might have a shot or two ..... I'd go a little bigger so you can make good cuts and have a fair amount to enjoy !!
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
