I am getting closer to my first mash. I am planning on running a pot still to make whiskey. How important is water quality? I am on a well that does have some iron in it. Other than that it is OK. Can I use it or should I buy bottled water? Do I need distilled or spring or what...?

Water quality can be important. If you can tell there is iron in your well water? Rust stained fixtures? Then I could be a problem. RO filter, bottled water (not distilled) if distilled is used you should add minerals back that were taken out of it.
There are a ton of threads about water quality around here. There was one just a few days ago. Use the Google search and you will find them better. They will have much more info in them.

And that's why I suggested the Google search tool. I did a HD Google search for water and got 33,700 hits. Here is a link.

The Google search is best for common words like water.
