How old are you? And all depends on what you want to do there? And every distillery would be different.

There are colleges that teach distilling and fermenting. Along with other schools that provide the same. This would be one of those things you would have to contact a distillery you are interested in working at and ask. Problem is many of the micro distillerys and such are small companies. With few positions. A larger distillery would be easier to find employment at. But you mite start out pushing a broom at one. Or filling bottles. Who knows? More education the better. For what ever position you are looking for. Just like any job.

You'll likely start out as an unpaid "intern"; which means you'd be doing a lot of heavy lifting, cleaning, scrubbing, sanitizing, and grunt work. Who knows, it could be a good year of that before they even let you touch the equipment. Like P said, it all depends on the distillery.

If you have one local, call them or better yet, go and talk to them and see if they can give you any advise. Talking is free and you might be able to start a casual relationship with them.

Start with a Bachelors in microbiology, minor in physics. A double major in chemistry couldn't hurt.
I would show up with a briefcase full of 50mL bottles that would constitute my resume.

join ADI thats what their all about.they have classes/schools and contacts.
or at least they did have.in a large distillery you wont learn a thing or not much.
its like working in any factory.you will see the back end of a shovel, forklift, furnace etc..
small distillers are more of a "family project".hard to git in as part of "the family".
