I was just talking to my old man and telling him about the cider I had fermenting. He said that if I got the cider from the store, which most of it is that it would not produce alcohol. The cider that I bought at the store did not have preservatives in it. Here is the recipe I used
4.5 gallons cider
40 oz sugar
12 gm distillers yeast and nutrient
It used up most of the sugar but when I tasted it I didn't detect the distinct smell and taste of alcohol. So what’s the deal? What have the wee beasties been doing in the bucket all this time? My airlock has been bubbling quite happily for the last two weeks. So am I just being paranoid or what?
