Feijoa vodka

Hello all.
I'm attempting to make a feijoa flavoured vodka. My first go consisted of soaking feijoa pulp in the vodka for a week or two. It was fine for a few weeks after that but then the flavour turned very dry and unpleasant.

My second lot consists of soaking the pulp, then re-distilling. Not sure how it's going to turn out. Initially it's fine, yet to see how it keeps.

I'm wondering if anyone here has had any success with feijoa before.

cheers.
ben.

I purchased a feijoa vodka flavour from Hauraki home brew recently. I'll flavour it up this weekend and let you know how it goes.

Unfortunately, I suspect that the line is about to be discontinued :(

Well, the verdict on the feijoa flavour was pretty good from my usual panel of experts. Definite feijoa taste. The only downside was my own fault as I rushed the finishing and ended up with a less than perfect spirit base.

This was a spirits unlimited feijoa vodka flavour purchased from Hauraki home brew in Takapuna.

Just an update on this. I was looking through the shop recently and noticed that still spirits also stock a fejoa vodka. If your local carries either of these brands you might be able to get them to bring some in for you.

Also, I saw a reference from one crowd who runs a mix of high ABV spirit and feijoa juice through a pot still.
