Hello to all of you guys! Does anybody know of a place that sells a jagermeister essence? I love the stuff and would like to make my own.

for whatever reason I can't reply to the carbon filter thread I just get sent back to the main board.
What I do is filter through charcoal from the bottom to the top, it works way better. I have a 4 foot piece of 2 inch pvc pipe full of charcoal with an end cap and screen on the bottom with a 3/8 fitting tapped into it. The 3/8 plastic hose is attatched to a bucket which sits higher than the top of the pvc pipe. An inch from the top of the 2 inch pipe I have another fitting with a screen and 3/8 fitting and hose which runs into the jug or bottle etc. Filtering from the bottom to the top makes far better use of the charcoal and none of the nasty's migrate to the top.

Hey thanks Possum! How close have you got it? If I can make jagermeister or something close to it I would have a couple of my goodbuddies literally bowing before me. This stuff kinda grows on you. The first time I tried it I thought it was the devils cough syrup, but after the 9th shot I was a believer.

I think it is pretty close, but I think I'll make another batch with the licorace root added to it.

I belive that sasafras is the key... but I don't know the recipee that the manufacturer actually uses.

I know its a while this this was posted but I thought I'd let you know that StillSpirits now have a Yaeger essence. Brought mine the other day for $9 but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

same here i brought some the other day ive mixed her up and going to give it a try nxt week after its settled .
my brew shop said she is selling this stuff like hot cakes.
ive heard every-one raving about this stuff so i thought id give it ago and see what all the fus is about,but just wondering what do you drink it with??
my brew shop was telling me people drink it with red bull.
pretty expencive to drink it that though being $10 aus for a 4 pack.

A lot of people drink it with red bull, too expensive for me. It mixes ok with a lot of soda, but I prefer it with ginger ale (not too sweet, doesn't hide the taste, and thins it out) or just on the rocks.

The kids go out and wipe themselves out with red bull and Jeiger, they call them yeager bombs. The young apprentices at work rave about them. I think its just a fad cause it gets the young ones pissed very quickly. I cant imagine mixing anything with red bull by choice and enjoying it. I think the appeal is scullabiltiy as opposed to sippability.

It's not too bad, but it has nothing on a good bourbon

well as far as im concerned i dont think ill be making it its CRAP.
i mixed it with redbull and didnt like it.
ive mixed it with lemonade didnt like it.
ive had shots of didnt like it.
basiclly not up for my taste buds and i dont know wot people see in it personally.
i think ill stick to what i llike best and make that but it was cheaper to make it than buy a bottle @ $50 aus.

some Jager tips for novices...
* its a drink to slam and party... not to sip like a grandpa in a rocking chair
* store in freezer, it should be served VERY cold
* use a tall glass, half fill with Red Bull, have a shot glass filled with Jagermeister, drop shot in tall glass and skol the entire contents
* be careful how many you have in one session because some people have a bad reaction to that much Red Bull
* the red bull can make hangovers worse
* for an extra kick, substitute Smirnoff Source for the Red Bull so your "mixer" is 12% ABV along with the herbal kick from Ginseng and Guarana

I have made my first batch of the Still Spirits "Yaegar" last weekend and will give it a whirl over Easter. Can't smell the difference between the commercial product and the homemade but being stored in freezer suppresses a lot of the bouquet.

found the Still Spirits Yaegar to be much too strong in flavour. I watered it down with some extra 40% spirit and it come up much nicer although lost soem of the sweetness. i thnk next time around i will leave about a tablespoon or so of the essense out of the mix but still use the whole bag of liqueur base.
