I know I shouldn't use aluminum for distilling but could I use an aluminum pot for cooking the grains?

for cooking your grain aluminum should pose no problems. just ensure your using a wooden spoon for mixing due to the fact that ingesting large amounts of aluminum that you would scrape form the bottom of the pain can be dangerous for your health.

Yea Sip,... I've noticed that my 4' stainless paddle leaves marks on my bop. That's prolly not a good thing...

the theory of aluminum being linked to Alzheimer disease came about in the early 1960's but to date has never been able to be proven or disproved. aluminum is in our diet everyday from breathing it in the air around us, to scraping it into our food when cooking and even acidic foods leaching it into the food and beverages its contained in. however large doses of aluminum can be hazardous to your system. as long as your not scraping it off the bottom and ingesting large quantities or inhaling aluminum fumes from high temp cooking (which should never be an issue heating it this high in this hobby) you should be ok.

Me cousin was raised in Bauxite Ar. That is where Alcoa had several huge mines for aluminum. When we were kids, we'd take our dirt bikes out, running through the mine country. Some of the mines were several hundred feet deep and had filled with water. Nothing lived in em. Nothing. No fish, no bugs, no plants along the edges of the queries. You could see wayyyyy down into the water, prolly a hundred feet er better. Now, I understand they don't let anyone go out there. But its all for mining aluminium. Is aluminum safe? I don't know. But ide say mining for it leaves a moonscape... kinda pretty in a way, but not so good for life...

Thanks everyone. I thought I could use the Alum since it can be purchased on the cheap and a lot of restaurants use Alum to cook with.
