whiskey look a little milky
i am using a 8 gallon still it is a still shaped likes the one wood ford reserve uses. what makes the whiskey look a little milky? am i running to fast or heating up to fast? PLEASE any help
Re: whiskey look a little milky
If you are talking about clouding of white distillate, that usually comes from oils...that come from late in the run (tails). Running too fast can also pull them in sooner. Either you missed your end cut. Ran too fast. Or both. That's usually the cause. Other cause might be that you pushed too much heat up front and it foamed up and puked into your distillate.
Re: whiskey look a little milky
What kind of wash are you distilling and what's the abv? A lot of time a wash with a low abv will result in cloudy low wines because of the concentration of oils and other stuff.
