I've tasted this before, it came from Canada. I did various searches for a recipe but came up empty.
I have some brandy, freshly distilled and waiting for some flavor. I am thinking flavor to taste with maple syrup, light toast oak chips and let it sit for a while.
I think this sounds pretty simple for my first attempt at flavoring and aging some brandy.
What do you think?

Sounds like a reasonable plan to me. I always add a little maple syrup to my fruit brandy as it goes into the barrel. I am not trying for something that tastes like maple syrup but something that tastes like apple or grape brandy with just a hint of maple present.

Braz,
Thanks, that's what I'm looking for too. I made a mead once with blueberry and maple flavor. I added so much maple syrup to it to have the flavor come through it was sickeningly sweet. One of my friends fathers had tried it, liked it then had me try the maple brandy. I couldn't figure out that it was even maple at first. I'll try a few ratios and see if I can come up with a decent recipe
.

could you age the spirit with charred sugar maple instead of oak?

Biker geek,
That sounds like a nice idea....
Dnderhead,
Yes, I agree....I used maple in the ferment also with the blueberry mead, the flavor was not coming through at all.
