I found out an interesting but related fact. Zein, which is a protein in corn and other grains, is only soluble in dilute solutions of alcohol and water. There is a temperature/concentration relation that says the higher the alcohol content the higher temperature it takes the disolve the zein.
The foam that builds on grain mashes can flood a column and condenser really fast and is mostly this zein. I have also found that the zein comes out of suspension only at colder temperatures < 20C in 50% abv.
I have been looking at this cloudiness for years. It usually filters out really easy if you chill your stuff to 10C.
There is one exception to this and it is when you use acrylic or vinyl tubing. The vinyl (fish tank tubing and all its relatives) disolves and you can't get that type of cloudinees out for anything.
I am sure you will find more information on this if you Use the search function ain't that right tater?
LMAO.

between blowing your horn and name dropping, I don't get the point of your post? Did fred give you a new vocabulary word? What cloudiness do you mean? From your potstill puking? Are you saying that cloudiness is because of the zein that gets in there?

I'm not upset. Lifes too short to get mad about little things...
I did think your post was condescending and darn close to trolling. nothing personal pinto... you just came off like a yuppie prick and I just like to let my smart ass side show now and then. Laughing your ass off pretty much set the tone...
You seem like an experienced and educated fella... I'd like to keep reading your perspective even if you sometimes look down your nose at what you found here.
