A federal program to destroy idle oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico Is killing thousands of red snapper – even as the government is tightening restrictions on the popular fish. THiS iS CRAZY and MUST Stop!!!!

That's a tough one. Fisherman want the rigs to stay and Environmentalists want the rigs to go...

I have been told they can salvage the rig above the water and then cut them off at the mud line . They then take the underwater portion to a "Rig Graveyard" so they are still an artificial reef, but cant be seen from the top. They are also deep enough not to cause any shipping problems. To me this is a win win situation...

I was also told that the resaon the Govt wanted the non working rigs gone is for Submarine detection. ?????

Another question I have is why are we spending Tax $$$$ to remove them ? The oil/gas companied are the ones that put them up. They should be responcible for the removal!
