Copper pot

Post by snooka »

Hi, I am a new-b and I have a question on pots. I have done some reading and have not found the answer I am looking for. I am going to build my own reflux column and was thinking of building a copper pot also. I have noticed that most of the people on here are using kegs and stainless steel pots. I know that copper removes sulfides, so why not a copper pot? You can remove some sulfides with the copper in the column, is that enough? Would a person know the difference between using a copper and stainless pot? Thanks for any info.

Welcome to HD snooka, A copper pot is great they are just more expencive and a bit harder to come by than stainless, you need copper in the vapor path some where and copper packing works great for that but a copper pot is great too don't think you would notice the difference in flavor either way though, but that's just my opinion. Happy stillin.
Sometimes I wonder why is that Frisbee getting bigger......and then it hits me.

Thanks for the info...I thought it was imperative that you use a copper pot to get flavored high quality spirit.I will consider a stainless pot. Thanks again
