Cool Old Stills Pic

Post by Uncle Jemima »

Confiscated stills near Brenham Texas. Undated.

Notice the tool box in front? Can't tell if it was used for a worm bucket or a boiler. You'd think an old metal tool box would be hard to seal.

Found this on a Facebook page with historical Texas photos. Thought y'all might like it.

Cool, that must be the Sheriff there ...
I wonder if the toolbox was used as a slobber box (looks there's some kinda fitting in the top center maybe)

Didn't even think of that. Don't think I'd have ever thought of a tool box when distilling for anything other than carrying tools. I dig the sheriff's tiny tie too. Just thought it was an all around cool picture.

very cool pic. There's a small fortune in copper there. bet that ole sherif was running that in his barn within a week of confiscating it.

Haha. He reminds me of Jackie Gleason's character in Smokey and the Bandit.

Or else selling it right back to the people he got it from for a little bit of product. That happened a lot too I think. Make some busts to get a nice picture for the papers then give it all right back for a small tax.

That is some really beautiful country around Brenham. I roamed that country in my college years. Lots of native fermentables and plentiful agriculture could keep a still like that running all year.

Not bad work for a country boy...

Hey Junkyard. I grew up near there but more on the Temple and Taylor side of College Station. Not sure if I've ever been through Brenham even though it wasn't far. I know they've had some damn good college prospects come out of there lately. Malcolm Brown and Tim Cole are at UT now. Hoping they pull that Darrion Johnson kid that plays DB this coming year.

Central Texas hill country and black land is definitely some pretty scenery. Land wise and the ladies.

Dang Tater. I wasn't even born till 77. Those weren't any of your stills confiscated in the original pic were they old timer? :)

You'd be surprised what Waco looks like now. Everything up and down I-35 is starting to merge into one big endless city from San Antone to Waco.
