Yeast-California Ale WLP001

Post by chillyp »

First off I understand Yeast washing and the resoning behind doing it as it pretains to the home brewing beer.

I was wondering if I take the yeast culture that's all geared up, that's a huge colony and introduce a simple sugar mash and 1 table soup of yeast nutrient if it would be strong enough to ferment out the sugar mash. I was think along a 5lbs for 5 gallon wash recipe. The Yeast has just finished fermenting my beer and I'm getting ready to rack it over to another carboy, so I was going to pour a 5 gallon sugar whiskey/vodka onto the yeast cake.

Anyone tried this??? I'm sure this has been covered too.

Should work fine. I use that method with my sourmash. I never used that particular yeast, but I have used other whitelabs ale yeasts. If you want avod a stuck ferment, use a 1/2 cup of molassas along with the DAP and/or b vitamins.
Hey guys!!! Watch this.... OUCH!
