aloha all, i guess it's about time to make a post here. being real here, what interersted me. lmao tim, tickle, jeff, mark and good ol jim tom. so i see a few utube vids and i think i can do this. honestly i got some ideas there, but my luck changed when i stumbled upon this incredible site. lurked around for about a month before registering. anyway last sat. i start a UJSSM modified. 6 lbs med. brown sugar, 5 lbs cracked corn, 5 gals water ph 8.5, 1 tbsp. + 1 tspn. yeast. ferment took 4 days. then transfered to glass carboy to clear, and to give me time to finish my 5.2 ltr. SS pot. head made of 3/4 in pipe. 2 in riser to 90, and 4 in to 1/2 in reducer, 45 deg. 1/2 pipe 21 inches long, goes thru 13 inches of 3/4 inch liebig jacket. ran still 3 times on sat. to do 5 gal of wash. all 3 runs 60 mls. of foreshots discarded. collected in 100ml increments, checked avb. very 1 st 100 mls was 60%. collected 1000mls down to 20%. 2nd run used all collected 1st run minus 200mls at 55% and 50%. was able to strip out 1000mls in about 45 mins. 1st 100ml was 62%. collect again to 20%. 3 run rerun 2nd run. 1st 100ml was 65%. collect down to 20%. shut er down. clean up let the jars air out, and crash. wake up this morning, check out my 100ml jars. was able to combine 700mls at 50%. if i dilute to 12 to 1 ratio. the 1 is the water. lol. its some very nice sipping whiskey. im kinda stoked, that i could pull this off in such a short time. most definately not without the wealth of information found here. many mahalos(thank yous) to all the sensei's teachers for sharing the knowedge.
