Pot Still Vodka`

I've heard a couple people talk about distilling vodka with a pot still and getting pretty good results, I'm not that picky so I decided to give it a shot. Somewhere I read that distilling vodka in a pot still is making a comeback as it leaves "subtle aromas," somwhere else (on this forum) someone said one of the best things to prevent a stuck ferment of sugar wash is to add somthing random to the wash like corn or wheat. So I put these together and added some potatoe to my sugar wash. I was just wondering if anyones tried it and if it would do anything... any thoughts?

I made a potato vodka once. It came out great but it's a lot of work to triple distill anything! Saving up the low wines for the third distillation made me think the process is probably not cost effective unless you have a huge still and then a much smaller spirit still.
still, it was fun. be careful when fermenting a potato wash, it's more violent than usual. I had mine in a glass carboy with a plastic bubbler on top. This got clogged and was blasted out of the carboy at high pressure, smashing itself into several pieces on the ceiling of my old garage. Not to mention the sticky potato goo mess all over the floor and ceiling.

There is a guy in Petaluma, CA that is a small microdistiller who makes his single malt vodka from scratch in a pot still. Its like no other vodka I've had a sipper for sure not a mixer. He says that its a labor of love and I believe him I did some quick fighures on what he must have for margins of profit and they are tight.

The idea is that some reasonably fine particles prevent the stuck ferment. A cheap source is bran.

You wouldn't know who, would you? I live one town over and would be interested in supporting a local micro-distillery.
