I am looking for some 3" copper and i'm going to call a plumbing supply house that my work uses. Im worried that the rep will ask me what i am doing with 4' of 3" copper and that it may get back to the people at work.

Client confidentiality should pretty much cover your ass unless you charge it to the company...

You are making a pump in the yard for decoration purposes.
You are making a sand point well and don't want galvanic corrosion.
It's none of their business.
You are picking it up for a buddy.
Your wife is making some sort of dang copper sculpture.
Your wife isn't happy with 3/4", she wants 3".

I thought about this a great deal before I went to buy copper. When I go get it the guy started to ask, but never finished his question saying never mind, its probably best that I don't know. So, don't worry bout it too much, chances are, he won't ask.

True but it's amazing some of the questions cashiers ask just to strike up a conversation.

Today I bought a 30' 7/8" worm for $2000.00. My reason was...A/C died and had to replace the lines on the unit. Bad thing about it is I don't even have a pot still......till now!

Good thing about it, I came out cheap replacing a 4 ton unit for only 2 grand.

Hell yea you did especially if they replaced the line set too
BTW I'm in the trade so I never get asked what the copper is for, but I've been buddies with the supply house manager for 20+ years so I get a fun discount to boot

I was in tractor supply the other day. Over heard an ole boy in there ask where they keep there large tubs. The guy working there said well it depends on what kind of tub you're needing. Ole boy responds, I need something to make moonshine in.

So I quickly pick up my bag of corn and GTFOOD. Apparently, the truth works for some people, though I wouldn't advise it.

Not just the line set but the whole shooting match. Inside A coil, lines and outside condenser unit with compressor. Got one of those family deals. Now I am going to find a way to make the old out door unit a water cooling system for my offset Nixon Stone. Should not be hard to do.

yes sir you did
Just do some careful planning going from air cooled to liquid cooled is a whole nother animal. You will need a much smaller heat exchanger for liquid transfer. Google geothermal a/c units and will give some good ideas

3" copper ?
Wifey has decided that she wants to start making copper braclets,
ya know the type - wide in the center and narrower on the ends.
Wants me to put some kind of frickin' design on the face and
stamp her extra special yet to be created logo on the inside.
Got to cut these 2 inch wide and the grind and file them down,
polish the damn things and on and on and on. . .
Damn things will most likely set on the kitchen counter for a year
until she tosses them out
Crap I do for a little bit of huggin' and kissin' Ya all know what I mean
Try that and try to act put out for the wifey making you do shit like this

Guess I am really fortunate . My local supplier smiled , pulled what I asked for , and gave me a 10% discount on the total . When i questioned that , he smiled again and said ,
"We discount our friends that are 'makin' and accept samples as tips."

I'd take him a small jar in a few weeks, and say a friend gave it to you, but you're not a drinker, so....
