Do I still need to seperate the forshots and tails on a pure sugar wash?

Yes, you should always make cuts, and throw out fores to be safe.

Remember, when you ferment, regardless of the style or elements used, you get nasty output as well as ethanol. That's nature doing it's thing. The "how much" is completely variable, so it's up to you how much to cut each time. I've read as little as 30 ml on a 5 gal/20 L wash, and as much as 150 ml for the same.

i think you will find not only will you be tossing the 4shots but the heads as well

I find, running a pot still, the fores and early heads have no use to me. Maybe really late heads for some taste. Yes, always make yer cuts, toss the first calculated amount of fores.

If the stuff tastes like demon burning lip searing starfish annihilating rocket fuel, why would you ever want to mix it into the litres of good stuff you will get soon after? :oops: :esurprised: :D

I cook 10 gal wash, throw out the first 500ml ,take the next 8 l all in the 90% plus , when I get to 88% in the 9th liter I shut her down this is on a reflux still
