other uses for back set?

I usually only do a run a month or so at this point, and have yet to re-use the back set for anything. Are there any other uses for the back-set around the house (garden, yard, fertilizer, pesticide...) or should I continue to just dump it down the drain. I'd love to be able to feed it to my veggies if it will help. I know I could use the back-set for the next wash, or future stripping runs, but am wondering if there are any advantages/disadvantages to adding it to soil...FYI...just a simple sweet-feed wash.

Thanks

I dump all my sugar wash leas on the garden...after they cool!

If you're talking off grain...It'd already been cooked, (sterilized) make dog or human biscuits by baking it! Wife bakes it straight for dog and adds some herbs and salt for me. Salty snacks anyone?

With grains: feed them to the chickens ...

Yeah, was mainly wondering about the liquid if it had any nutrients or benefits that could help a garden or grass yard. I give the leftover grain to the ducks around the lake...fatten em up for hunting season. Since I'm not cooking or converting the grains, I didn't know if there would be any benefit or damage from left over alcohol in the liquid on my t'maters

I dump my excess wash in my garden or directly on my compost pile. Don't know if it helps but so far it hasn't hurt. I also lime my garden every couple of years, this helps keep the soil from getting to acidic, and spent wash is acidic.

wow that spent grain site was awesome!

as i mixed my backwash from my last batch of sweet feed with the sugar and preparing to pour it back into the fermenter, I tasted it, and shared a taste with my son, we both liked the flavor, and for a moment i thought:

" hmmm what if we added enough sugar to it and boiled it down to a soft or hard candy crack, and made candy out of it?!?"

I may just try it next round which should be next week early on.

thanks for the question, it seems such a waste , except it may be good for the composting pile... which would help in the garden, if you have one.

regards

Rastus

I did leave out another use for your left overs...feed it to your critters for the entertainment value! Chickens, dog, pigs,...don't tell PETA!
