FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA -
Virginia ABC agents say they've made a moonshine bust in Franklin County.
The bust was the result of a nine-month long investigation.
Agents found two, 800 gallon black-pot stills in operation in the eastern part of Franklin County. Along with the stills, agents say they found:
1,600 gallons of mash
182 gallons of untaxed liquor
Liquor making supplies
Investigators arrested 54-year-old Ricky Nelson Matherly, of Penhook in connection with the case. He's charged with:
Felony illegal manufacture of bottling of alcohol
Misdemeanor possession of untaxed alcoholic beverages
The Virginia ABC says additional charges are pending, due to a search at Matherly's home that found a small amount of marijuana.
Matherly has been released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
If convicted, Matherly faces up to six years in jail (combined), and-or a fine.
