Hello all,
On the last phases of my build, (http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 50&t=30806), and was curious to see how much liquid it would take before my element was submerged. It turns out that it takes 2.75 gallons to bring the level over the top of the element. When I installed it I went as low as I could. Assuming a charge of 5 to 6 gallons will I have enough coverage, so as to not run it exposed? From my reading I feel I will be ok, but thought it best to ask the specific questions and invite feedback.
Thanks for everyones help!

depends on the charge of your still, so if you are doing a normal run ( a wash of about 12% or whatever you fewrment to) you will be fine a charge of low wines might be different
I don't know what still you have as this affects it as well

checkout the Distillate To Water Calculator on this page, You should be fine though

In my HERMS brewery system it takes about 3 gallons to submerge the elements in either tank. One thing I feared was "dry firing" the element and burning it up. A buddy pointed me to these "float safeties" - they act as a stop gap and will not allow the current to go through the SSR in the controller until the float rises and makes contact. It is the little silver barrel in the photo ..
