only the lonely

Like ol Roy would say 'only the lonely'. does anyone feel lonely on this site and others ?, like you try to contribute but it falls on deaf ears. Because your new, not from a certain country, have come from other sites that have questionable history, been voicfull in your opinion. I try to post things that I think other like minded distillers might like or get inspiration from.. Were here to help each other, right?. I try to comment on as much stuff as I can because if someone has an idea that has some.value they need encouragement. I just feel like.I'm waisting my time because I don't get encouragement. I'm not vain, I just want to share my thoughts with self minded pimple.

Dont feel lonely Brutha... I've surfed a few other sites since I found this one.... This is one of the more active forums out there. Not all of us are caught up in the Drama.

Look at the view to reply ratio on these threads. I did this after I first read this post. Only 10-15% of the views actually respond. Just know someone's reading your posts so they aren't in vain. I was also noticing, the other day, some of the posts in recipe development only get a few reads and fall into the abyss. Personally I appreciate when people go back in time and revive old posts, I like to read the progression.

And not for nothing, I noticed and read many of your posts, sometimes I just don't have too much input on the subject.

I agree with Black Eye, if what you post has any merit, it doesn't fall on deaf ears. If you inspire someone to twist a bolt in a different way, it's not in vain. Some of the ideas I post are sometimes kinda out there, but I don't really care. I've also included links to other people's posts in some of my replies that I'm sure the original poster probably isn't aware of. New users here are also coming across the information you post if they are doing due diligence in researching their questions. Remember too that the bad ideas get kicked around and dispelled. I've belonged to other forums where users were coddled and egos stroked to the point of being sickening. You don't find that so much here.

Just sayin',

In fact you're most likely to get your balls busted here...

Some times I have a solution so easy...and see no one use it. People winding copper reflux/condenser coils are out of their mind, use SS flex gas pipe! You never need a valve, there are designs that offer full reflux VM and LM without valves!

Go figure...

Read'em all, take the knowledge they have to offer and drop a golden nugget o' wisdom on us when you've got one.

Love, Peace, OUT!

Well, you got my curiosity stoked with that second paragraph. I did a search of your posts and didn't find anything that really addressed those specific techniques - except someone busting your chops about not having a valve on your reflux still. I also did a Google HD site search and didn't find much about "SS flex gas pipe". The only thing I found about the gas pipe was on a vendor site and it said that the stuff is coated with plastic to make it easier to feed through conduit and such. What's the poop on this stuff? At the risk of hijacking Googe's thread, can you give some links or elaborate on the info you gave here. You see, someone IS interested in what you have to offer.

This isn't meant as some kind of challenge. I'm sincerely interested in reading about this.

Just sayin',

Hi Googe, good to see your mug again  . I always enjoy your ideas you have a fresh approach to many things. just cos no one comments doesn't mean they haven't bookmarked the idea for future reference.

"waisting my time because I don't get encouragement"
if your product disappears you know you did something right ..
if not then you best change your ways.
its one of those things that no contact is the best contact.

Like others have said, even if it helps one person out, whether they responded to it or not, you've still helped one person out. The number of people who just read here and don't post is probably astonishing. I read a good bit here before I started posting. Others the same. If you're here posting for atta boys, you're posting for the wrong reasons.

I HEAR YA. sometimes I get a member or 2 that like follow all my post and just try to correct me. about 75% they are wrong. but talking of being lonely is when your are so happy that your AG mash come out awesome so you tell your old lady, dad, and who ever else know you do it and then they all look at you like your speaking another language or something. now I just don't say anything. the true happiness is when u bust out a bottle of likker. and everone thinks its awesome but u know it most heads and tails blended cause you drank all the really good stuff in the closet.

Dad's SS gas line works so unbelievably well and a 4 yr. old could make a coil with it... works for reflux/deflag. as well as a product condenser...

Duda Diesel has the SS 1/2 tubing by the foot and you can solder or braze flared copper to it and use it in any method you choose...

One of the best thing i ever picked up on the forums... and Dad has a cool looking sliding condenser unit worth looking at if you get a change...

Ok, giddyup, ever thought about what happens to them members that post an idea, build, recipe, random thought but they get no reply or helpful feedback. They could have just come up with something totally new that would change the way we do things. They don't get any feed back and think, oh, that must be a stupid idea in my head, won't bother continuing with that. Some need encouragement to achieve what they want, it's not the.best way to live but were all different.

I'm not gonna post, cuz I'm drunk on the good hooch I have made thanks to all the good info here.

Oh wait, I just posted...

Googe, keep doing what you're doing. I read it, and I'm sure many other do, too.

As for the SS flex fuel lines, all I can find has rubber insides. Is this what you are using for your condenser? If so, it seems to me the rubber would insulate the SS from the water, and hence from the vapors. Copper is a MUCH better conductor than SS...

Not to poach a thread or idea, but I think they make copper flex lines for plumbing gas lines. I swear we put one in on my gas stove 5 or 6 years ago.

Googe, your thread along with my excitement is what made me post that gratitude thread. Don't worry about drunken rants. So many of these guys share great recipes and tips all on an open forum with the potential for someone to steal it and take the credit. I can think of one pretty sore example that created a lot of tension.

You said you felt like people from other countries weren't accepted or ignored? After reading mani from Iran's post I feel like this place brings all people from all different back grounds, together with a common bond.

Thanks for your posts. I think your kale ideas interesting. I've been drinking it in breakfast drinks for a while. They say it's really nutritious, why not feed it to your yeasts as well.

Never seen a SS gas line with rubber insides just all SS... I have seen some covered on the outside with yellow or black PVC.... I don't use that just plain metal ones.

These two are for a full size 3" small one is a reflux coil 42" of tubing, and the other is a sliding arm condenser coil (Manu Style column) 72" of tubing both are way oversized.... i can pump 8000 watts at them and not have issues cooling.... or full refluxing

I have since cut the flares and nuts off the tubing and silver soldered/brazed flared copper tubing to the SS flex..

Thanks for posting this info. Amazing that something made like that could be gas/water tight. Something else to file away for future reference.

Thanks,

Thanks.blackeye, wise words mate  . That's cool fullysilenced!, reminds me of the extraction tube we have at work for welding, it's about 4' diameter and have often thought could.it be used for distilling. Is that stuff flexable when twisted or is it quite stuff?.

Been away for a bit...

http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 17&t=39706

shows a response about the condenser controlled (valveless) VM and the SS Fex pipe coils in one thread, with pics.

In building, my goal is to keep things as simple as possible, not everyone's goal! I understand that.

The SS Flex pipe is a good conductor, not as good as copper, but the SS corrugated flex pipe is much thinner, so that's a wash. Because it is thinner and stiffer, it is much harder to kink. It can be kinked, but not easily. Because of the corrugation it is very simple to wind/form. In fact I have wound and unwound several pieces to get the lengths right without a kink or crack.

The stuff is about half the price of equivalent copper tube. I go to ACE hardware and buy the diameter and length I want for less than a dollar a foot. Cut the brass connectors off and push poly hose over the SS. FullySilenced adds proper hose connectors and I would also if my setup were permanent, but I have to disassemble mine after every distillation.

As for the condenser controlled VM, there are two or three designs around, Manu Hanoi has a slanted version that goes VM or LM. Manu's could be valvless although I think he keeps the valve.

Mine is straight valveless VM.
Movable Reflux Condenser.png
If the reflux coil is below the take off port, there is 100% reflux. As you expose the take off port, there is proportional take off/reflux. No valves, no pooling, no smearing.

Dad, thanks for coming back to this. I'll be bookmarking this thread and the one you linked to above. Your design is simple and elegant.

What does the lower part of the column look like? Is it just packed like a normal reflux column?

Thanks,
