Weird still designs - would they work?

Post by syro »

Not sure if there's already a topic about this, but i thought it might be funny to create a topic where weird ideas for stills (any part of any design) can be posted.

Whatever kind of design is in your head, what you drawed on your dog, your mother-in-law or odd designs you've spotted on the internet or in someone's garage, post it! Maybe we can learn something from it. :)

Somehow i got the idea for a reversed umbrella-ish bokahead, not sure if there's already such a design tho.

Not a Bokakob but a very similar design has already been marketed commercially... There are pictures of it here in the forums and the parent site as I recall... Originally The Ultra Pure Still, now called Home Spirit Maker...

Not weird and has been done in the past but I think I've come up with an easier method for making a triple walled condenser. Plan to build and test this fall after my life settles down a bit.

I think DAD300 has one of the most unique designs - http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 4#p7091340 . I wouldn't call it weird, but he takes the principle of the valved reflux still, rethinks the valve, uses it, and ultimately eliminates it in the traditional sense. A person with very little building experience (me) could put his column together in an afternoon. He uses 30" of 3" copper packed with 28" of ss spp. I plan to do something similar with lava rock packing.

I forgot to say "SIMPLE" - really, stupid simple, but brilliant.

Just sayin',
