Brother gave me 2 # of smoked malt..says Smoked Malt (peated) (UK) on the bag
Anyone ever use it????

Peated malt is generally used to make scotch type whiskies. I would go for an all grain single malt. Use mostly 2 row with a bit of peated for the scotch flavor
