hi, not new to forums on making ethanol, but new to this most secret of the craft...

anyway, keen to get a pot still build cracking- being time and tool limited im either going to buy something like a certain ebay still- all stainless steel, 17l, no welds and uk built, but it costs £165- CONS double my budget- also no copper, so bad taste? maybe fix by copper mesh????

or build own out of a pressure cooker, cork and ss 8mm pipe and a bucket (can do) cheap at £65 and copper friendly also easy to hide from anyone who comes lurking- its a wort chiller honest :shh: - CONS- cant find a decent pressure cooker thats all stainless steel - only aluminium (oo- contoversy)- wanted the 18l capacity- is this needed???

Anyway atm siding with the aluminium pressure cooker build for the easy convert-or am i missing something like the seals are toxic or something???- i realise the alumiunium isnt acid proof- was gonna neutralise my wash on the inital runs as stated here (and do a vinegar soak of the coil not steam to clean)- dont like the probably though :wtf: "Al has two primary disadvantages:
Acidic wash will cause pitting over time, which destroys the vessel. This can probably be mitigated by neutralizing the pH of the wash prior to distillation with some calcium carbonate or similar."

anyway, having a great time reading all the info- liking the safety page espcially- would not have thought to dilute the stuff from the first run to 40% before redistilling- and would have used pvc to transfer
