hoff steavens kegs

Post by copperhead »

I have one of these kegs it has two couplings one in each end and a bung hole in the center. dose any body know how to get the couplings out? I got the treaded ring out but can't get the stem out.it has the dimond shaped valves.

The valve you describe is formally known as a 'Golden Gate' to help you in your Googling. I checked 'golden gate tap keg' quickly and came up with http://brewingtechniques.com/library/ba ... arker.html.
I have one of these, but I got the valve out so long ago I have no recollection. Maybe I cut it out - I cut out top head of the barrel to make a hot liquor tank. I just left the lower one in, so maybe I never figured out a non-destructive way to do it.
