Packing the column of my pot still

Hello everyone,
I was wondering whether it is possible to pack some stainless-steel pot scrubbers in the column of my pot still. The column is 22mm in diameter und about 10cm high. Do you think that this will work and would have any effect on what's coming out of my still? Will the pressure in my pot significantly rise due to the scrobbers?
