Demerara sugar rum wash

I've read about the folks down in Guyana in the Demerara region using it for rum, haven't had any but have heard its good. Any of yall used just demerara sugar, and no molasses for your rum wash? I've read that its the least refined, and has the most molasses content of all the granulated sugars. I just started one on a whim and I'm curious about others experience with it.
