Ok...I've tried searching for the answer but couldn't get any results.
Is it necessary to use distilled water or can a person use tap water for making mash ?? Will tap water kill the yeast ??

I use filtered well water and never had any problems.

Don't use distilled water, it doesn't have any minerals. Tap is usually fine unless its high in iron. Remove chlorine and it'll be fine.

Thanks guys. I figured if the water was high in Chlorine or chloramine that it might kill the yeast or at least have an adverse effect on it.

Tap water will always have chlorine or chloramine, ascorbic acid (vitamin c) will neutralize it. Or just let it air out for a day or so before you make your wash or mash. Filtered, distilled, RO water in a grain mash will be fine, but use tap water for sugar or rum washes.

if you want dechlorinate it with good old vitamin c, or let the sun do it's thing (uv light gets rid of it as well)

I don't dechlorinate, but it depends on how badly chlorinated it is i guess
