Hi to all, an a happy new year of stilling.
I have a couple of chrome plated brass sink wastes that would go great in my still column size wise.

Question is dose chrome plating have anything bad in it for distillers? also can i solder to it or do i have to remove/grind away the chrome?

also i have solder that dose copper to stainless easy, tin/silver solder and s/s flux. would it do the same for s/s and brass

Cheers MK

do not put chrome in your still

copper or stainless

you could use it if it was somewhere that isn't contacting the vapour or liquid, (such as bolting something on, but still prefer copper or stainless)

sounds like your still is coming together, might have to pop in and see it one day :P)

sweet definatly no brass or chrome then.

Yip coming together nicely, upgrading from very first pot still with joints all just push together and needing flour water paste etc etc. so doing it properly now i know it works well. To a simple cm reflux. putting 4 15mm cooling pipes through the column for cooling (reflux). Then when money allows going to build a seperate column probably down the boka way, and upgrade to power rather than gas at some point.

sounds good if your ever up this way pm me, drop in for a (coffee) :ewink:
