Do you think it would it be ok to substitute the cardboard in Samohon's instructions with a sheet of thin cork? It's seems like that would offer a little more squishy ness and make for a better seal. And also be less prone to breaking/warping over time. I realize there may be glue in the cork, but wouldn't the PTFE Tape protect against any of it actually coming in contact with the vapor?

some have used natural organic ''real'' cork. the automotive stuff is not that. just be aware of synthetics, rubbers and some bad ass glues they use in alot of that stuff. i have used natural organic undyed felt for gaskits with good success. its a little hard to find tho., not to mention going into fabric stores when theres 50 blue haired old ladies wondering what the hell your doing there. all in all those that use cardboard wrapped with ptfe tape swear by it. it seams to last quit awhile and cheap to make.
