Hi to all glad I found this forum when I did have been wanting to try distilling for a long time and just about bought an air still. Stumbled on to the forum when researching air stills. Wow what a wealth of information where to start is the question. I am considering a small still for my first venture I would like to be able to make a quart or so of neutral spirits per run. All suggestions welcome I look forward to learning from you all!

Welcome to HD mightymini, Glad you found our forum before you spent a bunch of money on garbage. Start by doing a LOT of reading, the new distillers reading lounge and the saftey and related issues sections are the best places to start and concidered manditory reading for beginners, after that have a good read on the parent site, tons of stuf there. It really helps to start off with a basic knowledge of the whole process so you have a good fondation to build on. Enjoy

Something that small will be very hard to make proper cuts with.
Typically 5 gallons is considered the minimum size here abouts
and most end up with a 15 gallon keg for a boiler.
My best advice is to start with the 15 gallon keg and avoid the
expensive building and rebuilding that will most likely be in your
future if you start out very small.

Although building is or can be 1/2 the fun of this hobby.
