Liebig pieces dry fit
Here's the start of something big, (Liebig that is ). 1" over 1/2"and 32" long with ground wire for turbulence.

looks good not sure how much turbulance your going to get as once the liebig fills with water from the bottom it will take the path of least resistance and the ones ive seen with the wire wrapped are usually 3/4 over 1/2 the wires a tight fit with the 3/4 makews the water work its way through in a spiral. hoever you shopuld get some turbulence just for running over the wire

First time I have seen the wire. I expected much tighter coiling. It hardly looks bothering with ( I didn't )
Re: Liebig pieces dry fit
Is this for a pot still or a reflux?
I like the wire. It shouldn't take much to get the water moving around the inner tube.
If it's for a reflux, turn the top water outlet upward, so as to avoid a kink in the hose.

DAD300, I'm going to use it for both. I thought of doing what you said but with it this way I can use it for both.I can make a loop with the top hose to go up to a reflux, but if it that connection was pointed up and I needed it to go down as when using it on a pot, the top hose may tend to kink, especially with warm or hot water going through it.

The water will never bet ht on a rig that size. No worries there.

Even without the wire, you'll have a good volume of water going through that 1" sleeve. And, at that length, you should be able to knock down most anything you throw at it. The wire should work well. It's not there to create a swirling flow. It's there to create resistance which should result in turbulence.
The only real problem I see is weight. With the additional weight of the 1" and the weight of the larger volume of water, you might need some bracing to keep the boiler from tipping over. Either that, or run it as vertical as possible and with a short lyne arm to keep the center of gravity close in to the boiler.

S-Cackalackey, I found a creative way to support the heavy Liebig, see my post titled "Now dough free". I had a camera tri-pod laying around doing nothing so I re-purposed it.

And a fine job you did of it , too . I just used a roller stand and a 2x4 .Effective , but not near as nice looking .kekedog13 wrote:S-Cackalackey, I found a creative way to support the heavy Liebig, see my post titled "Now dough free".
