Might be a lot easier to get two 2" 90 deg bends and join with a small section of 2" (that's what I did). I think trying to bend might be challenging/require expensive tools.

I would guess mandrel bending might work but standard roll bending would destroy the pipe. Just a guess though

If it doesn't split on the od of the bend it will definitely wrinkle on the id of the bend unless you are giving it a very generous radius which would probably defeat the purpose.. Picture the creases on a water gutter downspout elbow.

Commercial 180deg ells are available, though I know that takes the fun out of it.

Thanks y'all for the replies

One thing to ask isn't dwv extruded rather than rolled ? If so the chances of it splitting might not be so great ? But flatting out ?
And then a true 180 might be out of the question what about a 100* to say an 80* and lengthen it out but still have the fall needed sorta like the MHD flute? My angles might be off but ya know what I mean
I have a roller and a mandrel to use I've heard heat might help ??

And ya I'm a DIY if all possible I'd rather buy tools than buy something

Thanks again y'all

I looked into getting 4" bent a while ago, the max size I could find anyone that would do it was 3". Commercial pipe shops will do bigger but it's hard to do it with soft copper like we use, you need copper alloys like 'cunni' ect. Mandral seemed the best way, and cold bending not hot. 2" should not be to hard if you have the tools and know.what your doing.

Well googe maybe I'll just have to try it and waste it or make something I guess for my own piece of mind if it works awesome I'll share it an if it don't I'll share it
But I still appreciate all the input

Mandrel bending should work on annealed tube.
I've seen them available for purchase, so some other human can do them, no reason why you cant.
You design it, I make it. Copper and Stainless. Down under. PM me.

While I have never tried this on Copper, I would think sand bending would work for 2" copper. With sand bending you tightly pack the tubing with DRY sand and cap each end. For steel motorcycle pipes, you use a rosebud torch to heat it up and slowly bend it around a form shaped the way you want it, with the copper less heat should do it.

Here is a link to a thread using this technique with aluminum pipe, as well as a neeat homemade tool to bead tubing which could be handy on slip fittings on stills.

I'm new here and as I said, I have never tried it with copper, it's just an idea.
