Do you think red maple or pin oak would work for aging?

Do you think red maple or pin oak would work for aging?
I know that traditionally white oak is supposed to be used for aging liquor, but I have heard of people using sugar maple as well as other woods. I have a red maple and a pin oak in my back yard, and I was wondering if those would work for aging?
